Heavy-Duty Towing & Rotator Recovery in Portland, OR

Not every tow is a sedan on a flatbed. Sometimes it's 40 tons of loaded box truck on its side across two lanes of I-84, diesel on the pavement, traffic stacked up for miles. A light-duty wrecker looks at that scene and calls someone else. We're the someone else. From the I-5 corridor to the industrial yards on the east side, heavy calls come in around the clock, and we're the crew that answers them.

When a normal wrecker isn't enough

Light-duty wreckers top out fast. Past about 26,000 pounds, or any time the vehicle isn't sitting on its wheels anymore, you need heavy iron: tandem-axle wreckers, air cushion recovery systems, and a 40-ton rotator. Heavy-duty towing is a different trade with different equipment. Sending the wrong truck wastes everybody's time, and most of it is yours, standing on the shoulder.

What a rotator actually does

A rotator is a crane and a wrecker built into one truck. The boom swings a full 360 degrees, so we can lift a rolled semi straight up and set it back on its wheels without dragging it across the asphalt. Uprighting a tractor-trailer this way is controlled and boring to watch, which is exactly what you want. No second crash caused by the recovery. The alternative is chains, guesswork, and a bigger repair bill than the one you already have.

Rollover and accident scene recovery

Most heavy calls are rollovers and jackknifes. Semis tipped on the I-5 curves through downtown Portland, box trucks on their sides on I-205 ramps, dump trucks slid off Highway 26 in a snowstorm, a tractor-trailer jackknifed across the Glenn Jackson Bridge in black ice. We work the scene alongside police, fire, and ODOT: stabilize the wreck, contain fluid spills, upright the vehicle, clear the lanes. Then it goes wherever it needs to go. Your yard, the shop, or impound. We handle the paperwork side too, because nobody wants to think about forms at 3 AM in the rain.

Heavy hauling, not just wrecks

It's not all accidents. Plenty of our heavy work is planned: excavators, loaders, forklifts, scissor lifts, shipping containers, the machines that build this city. Lowboy and Landoll trailers, permitted loads, proper tie-down. If it rolls, or it used to roll before something went wrong, we can get it down the road in one piece.

If it's heavy, tipped over, or stuck somewhere a pickup can't reach, call (503) 253-3030. Heavy-duty recovery doesn't keep business hours, and neither do we. 24/7.
