Towing Near Me Portland Oregon

This year Halloween falls on a Saturday, sunset is at 6 p.m. & the clocks fall back too tomorrow night. That means more kids out after dark, more parties, and a longer night on the road. The numbers are why we are posting this. Children are more than twice as likely to be struck and killed by a car on Halloween than on any other day of the year. For kids ages 4 to 8, the risk is 10 times higher. Nearly half of all crash fatalities on Halloween night in 2024 were alcohol related. In Oregon, 539 people were killed in crashes in 2024, including 97 pedestrians. Here’s how we keep each other safe this weekend:
1. Driving? Slow down in neighborhoods, at least 5 mph under the limit between 5:30 and 9:30 p.m. Turn your headlights on early, put your phone away, skip neighborhood shortcuts, and watch between parked cars, at driveways, and on left turns. Kids in costumes dart mid block and may not see you through a mask.
2. Trick or treating? Kids 12 and under should have an adult with them. Stay on sidewalks, walk up one side of the street, cross only at corners and crosswalks, and make eye contact with drivers. Add reflective tape, glow sticks, or a flashlight to costumes and treat bags, and lift masks when crossing.
3. Going out to party? It is a Saturday and you get an extra hour when clocks fall back at 2 a.m., and that late window is when drunk driving deaths climb the most. Plan a sober ride before the first drink: designated driver, rideshare, taxi, or TriMet. Do not let a friend drive impaired either.
4. Welcoming trick or treaters? Light the path, clear walkways of hoses, cords, and decorations, move cars if you can, and keep pets secure inside.
5. Traveling farther? Check TripCheck before you leave, allow extra time for rain and dark roads, and buckle up every trip. Remember Sunday will get dark about an hour earlier after the time change.
Our trucks will be out all night across Portland.
Slow down, look twice, and help everyone get home safely. Have a fun Halloween from all of us at Northwestern Towing! 🎃
If you do need us, we are 24/7 at (503) 253-3030.

No hard feelings, but the mountain passes don’t care if you planned ahead or not. #Winter weather is moving into the higher elevations. So before you head toward Mt. Hood, Santiam, Government Camp, or anywhere snow is or “COULD SNOW”, please take five minutes and make sure you & your vehicle are actually ready for it.

1. Check your tire tread and pressure
2. Test your battery, wipers, heater and defroster
3. Top off winter-rated washer fluid
4. Make sure your chains fit before you need them
5. Carry warm layers, water, food, a flashlight, phone charger and basic emergency supplies
6. Slow down. Increase following distance. Get there safe.

Remember, four-wheel drive helps you move, but it does not help you stop. And if you are towing, chain requirements can be different.

Check https://tripcheck.com before leaving, know the conditions, and never assume the road is the same as it was an hour ago.

Monday Motivation🦾🪝 It’s a new week but we’re dishing out the same standard. We show up, we figure it out and we get it done without the excuses. A few towing companies turned them down. The location was bad. The situation was dangerous. And getting the vehicle out wasn’t going to be easy. Then we got the call.

Our dispatcher sent CJ. Within half an hour, he was there. Ian joined him, and together they figured out how to safely get the job done.

John E. left us this review:

“Our car broke down on a really bad spot down I-84, a few towing companies turned us down cause they weren’t sure they’d be able to help. The dispatcher sent CJ and within half an hour he was already there. Even tho it was a difficult and dangerous spot CJ and Ian were able to figure it out and get us out quickly and as safe as possible.

While I didn’t get to meet Ian, CJ was super friendly and helpful, he was professional and super quick at his job. We didn’t know if we’d be able to get out and somehow they got us out.

I cannot explain my gratitude, I know if anything happens again they’re the ones to get it done!”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — John E.

That last sentence says everything. “They’re the ones to get it done.”

That reputation isn’t built with slogans. It’s built on the side of I-84, when traffic is flying by, conditions aren’t ideal, and somebody needs help right now. Proud of our team. And grateful to John for trusting us and taking the time to tell the story.

WHEN I-5 SAYS “NOT TODAY.” While I-5 southbound was already dealing with the planned closure this morning, northbound ramp on Marine drive decided to join the party. An overturned semi hauling scrap shut things down and left one serious mess to clean up. Truck on its side. Trailer over. Scrap scattered everywhere, including down below the roadway. This is exactly where heavy recovery gets complicated. It’s not just about putting a truck back on its wheels. You’re dealing with the tractor, the trailer, the load, debris, traffic, containment and getting the highway ramp opened again safely. 🦾🪝
